Senior Tax Analyst
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: $60,000 - $75,000 (dependant on experience)
Location: GTA
Reports to: Corporate Tax Manager
Our client, a leading supplier of chemicals within North America, is searching for a Senior Tax Analyst to join their Tax Group.
Responsibilities
- Tax Reporting – 60%
- Complete monthly filing of sales tax returns with the related tax authority (HST, QST, etc).
- Ensure adequate sales tax exemption documentation is maintained for compliance with state sales tax documentation requirements.
- Review annual W-1099 forms for filing with the IRS.
- Complete W9 forms as requested.
- Compute and remit tax instalments, and monitor tax refunds for the group.
- Assist with the accurate and timely filing of income tax returns in Canada.
- Support the preparation of US tax returns (i.e. provide data and information)
- Prepare annual tax forms and information returns (T3, T5, T106, T1134B, etc...).
- Assist with the annual Canadian Depository for Securities (CDS) reporting for related Income Fund (re: taxable allocation to Unitholders).
- Prepare supporting analysis required to maintain the tax transfer pricing documentation for the company.
- Support income tax audits, through analysis of historical transactions.
- Tax Accounting – 35%
- Complete quarterly tax provision work papers including transfer pricing estimates.
- Provide related journal entries to accounting for posting.
- Update tax jurisdictions codes in SAP when required.
- Assist with changing of system tax rates when required (e.g. change in PST rate).
- Special Projects/Adhoc Reporting – 5%
- Participate in special projects/adhoc reporting as requested.
Qualifications
- University Degree in mathematics, commerce, business, or accounting
- Designated accountant or in the process of pursuing CGA, CMA, CA or CPA designation
- Previous experience with preparation of commodity tax returns or income tax returns preferred
- Experience with SAP an asset
- A motivated individual with an interest in developing expertise in the tax area
- Strong analytical skills, initiative and attention to detail
- Good time management skills, enabling completion of responsibilities within deadlines. Time requirements may include overtime
