SENIOR FUND ANALYST

Our client, one of Canada’s leading private equity firms, is currently seeking a Senior Fund Analyst position to immediately join its accounting department.
The Opportunity:
- Preparation of quarterly financial statements for limited partnerships and corporations for one of the company’s later stage equity fund groups (consisting of multiple parallel funds)
- To aid in the preparation of Canadian and U.S. tax files (T5013, K‐1, T5, T2, NR4, etc.) in conjunction with external tax advisors
- Prepare journal entries to record all transactions for that fund group
- Manage, calculate and execute capital calls to the investors (worth millions of dollars)
- Manage, calculate and execute distribution/payments to investors and wire/cheque payments
- Correspond with investors and answer their financial statement related questions
- Calculate, record and invoice management fees and current income on a quarterly basis
- Calculate and allocate partnership expenses
- Prepare audit packages for the Funds and manage the audit process
- Assist the investment professionals with financial statement information which will be used by the investment professionals and investors (IRR calculation, carried interest modelling, quarterly investor reports, etc., etc.)
Candidate Qualifications:
- University degree in an accounting or business related field
- MUST HAVE a minimum of 2 years experience in the private equity or hedge fund industry, preferably with back office and/or financial reporting experience
- Accounting designation required (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA) or close to completion of a designation
- Able to work independently and with minimal supervision in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Strong Microsoft Excel & Word skills
- Exposure to Investran, Intralinks or MS Dynamics (Great Plains) would be an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
