THE OPPORTUNITY
Our Client, a publicly traded exploration and development company, is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join their growing team. The Senior Financial Analyst will report to the CFO and will be responsible for assisting him with the full spectrum of his duties (including full-cycle accounting for the Company and its subsidiaries, corporate secretarial, regulatory reporting, treasury, HR, and other duties).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and assistance with full cycle accounting and reporting, including income statement account and balance sheet account reconciliations
- Corporate secretarial duties
- Regulatory reporting
- Treasury duties
- HR assistance
- Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Assist with conversion to IFRS and reporting under IFRS standards
- Assist in the annual budget and forecast process
- Analyze budget to actual variances
- Assist in preparation and analysis of balance sheet accounts, continuity schedules and variance analysis
- Assist in the implementation of more complex accounting policies and process improvement initiatives
- Assist in processing of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES
- CA/CGA/CMA/CPA designation or in final stages of a professional accounting designation
- Must have a minimum of three years progressive full cycle accounting experience; ideally in a similar public company role
- Must have advanced Excel skills
- Working knowledge of Accpac or similar accounting software
- Strong computer skills in Word and other Microsoft Office Programs
- Proven strong organizational, multi-tasking, and technical
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Corporate secretarial experience
- Payroll experience (working knowledge of Ceridian software would be an asset)
- Treasury experience, including issuance of common shares upon exercise of stock options
- Familiar with accounting for stock options and stock compensation expense
