Senior Accountant
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 (dependant on experience) + bonus potential
Location: Toronto
Reports to: Manager or Senior Manager
Our client, a public accounting firm, is looking for a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for:
- Prepare financial statements and detailed analysis of accounting records including all the required notes and year end letters (i.e. cover letter, legal information letter and engagement letter)
- Ensure that all planned procedures have been completed in accordance with the Firm’s policies and procedures and GAAS, if applicable
- Ensure that all queries and outstanding points have been cleared satisfactorily
- Prepare corporate and personal tax returns.
- Promptly review any significant assurance engagement findings or questions involving accounting principles or statement presentation with the Manager or Partner(s) and make suggestions as to their resolution
- Use tax knowledge to identify issues, suggest alternatives and implement plans
- Participate in a broad range of tax-related work requiring analysis, assessment, and quantification
- Train and supervise staff on audit engagements
- Plan and prepare time budget for review and audit engagements
Qualifications
- Must be a designated Chartered Accountant (CA)
- A minimum of 2 years practical experience in public practice, preferably at a mid-size accounting firm
- Understanding of accounting concepts of Canadian and US tax
- Experience preparing corporate and personal tax returns
- Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP
- Possess exceptional technical skills (Caseware, Taxprep, Microsoft Excel)
- A keen attention to detail along with an ability to focus on the overall concepts
- The ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced & changing environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Contribute positively to a team environment, but able to work independently when required
