CONTRACT POSITION - SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Start Date: ASAP (2 month contract with potential to go longer and/or permanent)
Pay Rate: $25 - $27/hour (dependant on experience)
Location: GTA
Reports to: Accounting Manager
The Opportunity
Our client, a Canadian clothing manufacturer and distributor, is looking for a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant works cross functionally with Finance Department team members in the preparation of monthly financial statement working paper files; preparing the daily “flash” report; and processing electronic banking transactions. This role provides oversight to the A/P function and provides assurance that A/P transactions are in compliance with company policies.
Responsibilities
- Prepares monthly working paper file for the preparation of internally prepared financial statements.
- Specifically:
- Bank Reconciliations
- A/R
- Inventory
- Prepaid
- Fixed Assets
- A/P
- Accruals
- Prepares and posts all approved month end journal entries
- Provides account analysis
- Prepares monthly tax reporting
- Electronic Banking Services:
- Monitors daily balances
- Prepares daily deposits
- Prepares wire payments for approval
- Prepares daily flash reports
- Provides back up support and oversight to the A/P function
- Develops & documents standardized processes related to this position
- Provides other duties as required
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in business & working toward an accounting designation (CGA or CMA)
- 3-5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing or distribution organization is preferred
- Experience in the Apparel industry a definite asset
- Intermediate to advanced level skills with MS-Word and Excel
- Excellent communication skills with a “Can do” attitude
- Exceptional teamwork & communications skills with problem solving abilities
- Must be a clear communicator who deals effectively with all levels of an organization
- Detail oriented with strong analytical capabilities in planning, organizing and process control
