Senior Accountant
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 (dependant on experience) + bonus potential
Location: Mississauga
Reports to: Manager, Accounting
The Opportunity
Our client, a large multinational document management company, is looking for a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for performing full cycle accounting, month end closing, general ledger maintenance, preparing financial statements, preparing reports for management analysis, variance analysis (balance sheet accounts), etc. The Senior Accountant will be a part of a team of 6 and will report directly to the Manager of Accounting.
Responsibilities
- Prepares accurate and timely monthly financial reporting
- Reconciliation of all intercompany accounts
- Prepares monthly journal entries
- Ensures all financial reporting deadlines are met
- Resolves accounting discrepancies and irregularities
- Prepares monthly management reports and weekly flash reports
- Provides other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must have an accounting designation (CA, CMA or CGA)
- Must have at least 2 years experience post-designation in a similar role performing full cycle accounting, month end closing, general ledger maintenance, preparing financial statements, preparing reports for management analysis, variance analysis, etc.
- Must have advanced excel skills including v-lookups and pivot tables
- Must have a solid understanding of Canadian GAAP
- Must have superior knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (lookups and pivot tables)
- Experience with BAAN (ERP) and/or Access is an asset
- Demonstrated continuous improvement accomplishments
- Strong analytic skills, proactive change management capabilities
- Excellent oral & written communication skills
- Judgment and problem solving
