SENIOR TAX ADVISOR
CONTRACT DURATION: (12 months with potential to go permanent)
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: $70 - $80 per hour (dependant on experience)
Location: Toronto
Reports to: Director of Tax
The Company:
Our client, a publicly traded metal and mining company, is looking for a Senior Tax advisor to join their tax group. This role entails all aspects of corporate/ mining tax compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Assist and carry out tax compliance and provision functions and duties
- Prepare, document and analyze corporate tax returns for the Company and its Canadian subsidiaries
- Prepare, analyze and document foreign affiliate financial and tax data, tax basis and surpluses, including assistance in completion of related tax filings [T106; T1134, T1135]
- Prepare, analyze and document transfer pricing memos and reports, including any related tax filings
- Assist in the compilation and preparation of response to tax authority queries for prior year audits, maintaining positive and constructive relations with authorities
- Participate and assist in developing, researching and implementing tax plans and strategies
- Liaise with external advisors and internal finance employees with respect to tax matters, issues and audits
- Maintain familiarity with all phases of Canadian tax ensuring awareness of legislative changes which may have major impact on the Company’s tax position
Qualifications:
- Ideal: CA with CICA In-depth Tax Course completed (or well in progress to complete) or at minimum an accounting designation
- Relevant Canadian tax compliance and provision experience
- Prior mining tax experience a definite asset (but not mandatory)
- Proficient in TaxPrep and Microsoft Office suite of applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Very good communication and interpersonal skill set; results oriented
