MATERIALS ACCOUNTING MANAGER (12 month contract)
Contract Position: 12 months with potential for permanent placement after
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: $65,000 per year
Location: GTA
Reports to: Factory Controller
The Opportunity:
Our client is the pet division of a large global food company. The Materials Accounting Manager role is to develop and maintain accounting systems, procedures, controls, audits and analysis to ensure that Plant and Division management are provided with timely and accurate information.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor the plants finished product, packing supply, and ingredient inventory reporting systems

Monitor the plant's MRP system (PRISM) to insure that all formulas and inventory balances are correct in order to generate accurate recommendations

Coordinate input of finished product, packing supply, and ingredient inventory data and conduct analysis in variances resulting from the inventories

Coordinate the monthly closing entries relating to packing supplies, finished product, and ingredients

Review all monthly reports and coordinate the summary of results in an analysis to Division and Plant Management

Monitor the IVU Report (CPST790) to ensure ingredients are being paid in a timely manner and charged to the correct PO's

Perform all audits as required by the Internal Control Compliance Package
- Review unit cost of packing supplies and ingredients to ensure that the write-off of inventories at month-end is accurate
- Review Cost/Ton for both packing supplies and ingredients to ensure that P&L's are being costed accurately at month end and are properly reflected in the monthly #115 Report
- Complete periodic performance evaluations for team members who report to the Materials Accounting Manager
- Actively participate in Daily Production meetings to keep up with changes and issues that may arise causing spikes in Inventory Losses or Yield losses
- Develop yearly budgets for Yields & Shrinks
Candidate Qualifications:
- University degree in business administration, commerce or accounting
- Completion of a Certified General Accounting or Certified Management Accountant (or equivalent) designation would be an asset. However, not REQUIRED to be designated.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of financial management experience
- Familiarity with Food manufacturing/Food operations/Food processes is an asset
- Experience doing Variance analysis and Inventory Costing is REQUIRED
- Experience managing people would be an asset (role has 2 direct reports – accounting coordinator and financial coordinator)
- Advanced Excel skills
- General ledger Accounting systems, budgeting analysis software AS400, BPCS
