MANAGER - TAX, TREASURY & REPORTING

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 + bonus potential

The Opportunity
The Manager - Taxation, Treasury & Reporting assists the President and CFO in the direction and management of the company’s treasury activities and is primarily responsible for the preparation of all forecasting and reporting for treasury financial processes, including cash management, taxation matters, pension, and compliance with Company and Government regulation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares and analyzes company cash flow requirements, i.e. treasury budgeting, consolidated cash flow forecasting, variance analysis, performance benchmarking and reporting
- Ensures compliance with all government taxation regulations including Income Tax, GST, PST and HST, inter-company pricing; verify realty and business tax assessments and prepare all company tax returns for three legal entities to ensure minimum legal tax is paid
- Administers the company insurance program to provide a basis for consistency in recording transactions and protecting company assets
- Cross functional responsibilities with the Finance Team i.e. period end reporting and variance analysis of debt and interest expense, year-end and financial forecast schedules to meet corporate financial deadlines etc.
- Work with company pension service providers to ensure company pension is accurately valued, reported and recorded in the company books of account
- Prepares hedging requirements on foreign currency; as well as create and implement policies and procedures relating to treasury and tax compliance
Qualifications:
- University degree in Finance or a related field i.e. Commerce, Accounting, Business or Economics
- A Professional Accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA) is an asset but not required
- 4-6 years of related business experience is required, preferably in areas of Finance, Treasury, Accounting and Risk Management
- Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, tax regulations, and pension accounting and reporting requirements; knowledge of Canada’s various tax levels and the tax regulations of each level
- Familiar with a variety of Treasury concepts, practices and procedures with a strong understanding of money markets and how they operate
- Superior financial modeling in Excel and high comfort level dealing with company funds and large figures
- Experience working with a AS400 platform is an asset
- Strong project management skills and administrative skills
- Highly organized
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
