Director of Finance
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 (dependant on experience) + bonus potential
Location: Downtown Toronto
Reports to: COO & CEO
The Opportunity
Our Client is a Canadian-based online shopping destination, offering the best in contemporary luxury fashion and lifestyle products and accessories. The Company is searching for a Director of Finance to join its growing team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee budgeting and financial strategy processes
- Oversee and actively participate in day-to-day accounting and operational processes
- Develop innovative business processes to support financial operations; processes which will support the Company in the face of significant growth
- Prepare and present financial statements to executives and key stakeholders
- Work with CEO and board of directors to develop projections and other financial strategy documents for potential and existing investors
- Lead financial modeling and analysis to support development of long term strategic initiatives and business plans
- Partner with management on special projects, i.e. compensation, bonus structures, etc.
- Supervise Junior Accountant
Qualifications
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a professional accounting designation or be in the process of achieving a professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA)
- 8 - 10 years progressive work experience in increasingly responsible finance and accounting roles in the Retail Industry which include direct supervision of staff
- Must have experience in the Retail Industry
- Track record of success facilitating process development, in the area of finance, within a growing organization
- Expert facility with general Excel usage and complex financial modeling
- Entrepreneurial team player who can juggle multiple critical projects
- Skills to be effective in both proactive leadership and problem solving when issues arise
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical
- Recent experience in a hands-on, roll-up-your sleeves role
- Ability to review and negotiate complex contracts is an asset
- Technology start-up experience is not essential, but is considered an asset
