Manager of Foreign Exchange

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 (dependant on experience) + bonus potential

The Opportunity
The Manager of Foreign Exchange is responsible for managing the FX accounting group within the Finance Department. This involves managing a staff of 2-3 individuals and facilitating the month end close process.
Responsibilities
Working within the Finance Department, the Manager of Foreign Exchange will:
- Prepare monthly financial statements for FX business unit
- Manage multi-currency general ledger
- Manage and oversee the daily bank reconciliation process for multiple currencies
- Prepare monthly variance analysis
- Manage the month end accounting process including A/R, A/P, fixed assets and customer deposits
- Oversee the daily accounting and reconciliation of derivatives including forward contracts and options
- Prepare monthly commission calculations
- Development of controls and procedures for accounting transactions resulting from newly implemented Wallstreet trading and settlement system
- Determine improvements and efficiencies for Wallstreet accounting transactions reconciled within the Epicor accounting system; specifically, determine ways to make the month end close process more timely
- Assist with accounting tasks and projects within the broader Finance Department
- Develop KPI’s and other metrics required by senior management
- Ensure FINTRAC reporting data from FX is provided to Compliance Department
- Prepare lead sheets and working papers for quarterly reviews and the annual audit
Qualifications
- An accounting designation, or close to completion of an accounting designation is an asset (CMA, CGA)
- Must have a minimum of 2 – 3 years experience with foreign exchange accounting
- Preference for candidates with knowledge of Epicor and Wallstreet systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong proficiency with Excel and systems oriented
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet strict deadlines
- High attention to accuracy and detail as well as ability to adapt to and understand new systems
- Ability to analyze, problem solve and manage people
- A willingness and ability to adapt to a changing environment and responsibilities in a growing company
