CONTROLLER
Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 + bonus potential

The Company:
Our client, a publicly traded software company, is a leading provider of local search and advertising solutions for the mobile market.
The Opportunity:
The Controller role will be a hands-on position required to drive best practice and optimization of internal processes both within the accounting department and beyond it. The controller will assume responsibility for all financial operations including financial and management reporting, general ledger maintenance, and budgeting and variance analysis. The candidate should be capable of leveraging technology to automate reporting, increase quality of data and implement required controls. A key area of focus for this role will be to ensure the production of high quality financial statements with a deep understanding of its contents and accuracy.
Beyond the functional aspects of the role, the incumbent must be capable of demonstrating a high degree of business acumen, common sense and ability to partner with various internal and external players. The controller must have the ability to effectively communicate and influence stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and insure the accuracy of external financial statements
- Provide leadership in all areas of finance and accounting
- Assist in the development of internal management reporting and statistics that monitor the overall business (metrics and business intelligence) and represent an accurate reflection of operational realities
- Will assist with developing annual budgeting and the financial management and reporting process
- To motivate team members and provide leadership and development opportunities
- Manage the careers and development of employees
- Liaise with auditors and internal and external stakeholders
Candidate Qualifications:
- Must have CA designation
- Must have 2 years experience minimum, post designation
- Public company audit experience is an asset
- Preference will be given to candidates with software and technology industry experience
- Sound knowledge of GAAP
- IFRS Compliance knowledge is an asset
- Strategic level thinker with an ability to analyze numbers in terms of their impact on the big picture
- High energy and a positive attitude
- Reasonable knowledge of corporate tax
- Strong research skills
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-changing, aggressive and entrepreneurial environment with evolving systems and procedures
