Assistant Controller

THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for the review and preparation of external financial statements, product costing and variance analysis, budgeting, government remittances and multi-company financial support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inventory reporting for Product Costing and Variance Analysis
- Supporting the budget cycle and analysis of actual results versus budget and prior year
- Maintain and Enhance ERP System
- Ensure all transactions (financial, inventory, order processing) are processed correctly
- Develop procedures and provide necessary training
- Process complex transactions
- Oversee the General Ledger In a Multi Company Environment
- Prepare and post Journal entries
- Reconcile and balance Sheet Accounts
- Data Maintenance (price lists, GL calendar, user security, etc.)
- Act and participate in all company audits
- Prepare regulatory filings
- GST and PST
- NAFTA Certificates
- Ensure cross border transactions are processed correctly
- Supporting accounting Overflow Support
- Ad-HOC Analysis
QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES
- Accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CA)
- Bachelors Degree, preferably in Accounting or business
- Advanced computer skills including both Microsoft and ERP
- Excellent analytical and planning skills. Readily able to understand new manufacturing processes
- Prior costing and inventory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Professional, reliable and able to meet deadlines while being detail oriented
- Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to be organized and productive in an open, fast paced environment
- Strong team skills including ability to lead cross functional teams and affect improvements.
- Minimal travel may be required from time to time.
