ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 / year + bonus potential
Location: GTA
Reports to: Assistant Controller

The Opportunity
The General Accounting Supervisor is responsible for coordination and preparation of financial reporting within The Company. The responsibility includes coordination and preparation of internal management and external GAAP financial reporting, fiscal period cut-off, all data collection processes and analysis/ explanation of the results.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver internal financial/ performance reports based on business requirements to support effective departmental management and ensure responsible fiscal management.
- Recommend financial reporting processes / reporting to support business decision making by management.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all financial and performance reports.
- Prepare variance analysis (actual vs. budget and actual vs. forecast) and coordinate investigation and resolution into discrepancies with appropriate department managers.
- Develop and deliver external financial reports based on external stakeholder requirements (government, bank, other stakeholders, etc.)
- Build and maintain trust-based external stakeholder relations.
- Responsible for development of efficient processes and effective supporting systems to efficiently and effectively capture and report on all financial information.
- Proactively identify and recommend changes and enhancements to financial controls in an effort to enhance “Risk Management” initiatives.
- Proactively identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and business enhancements.
- Monitor financial performance to forecast and budget and appropriate communication where potential significant issues arise.
- Partner with business units to understand reporting requirements and business understanding; adjust financial reporting processes to meet changing business needs.
Qualifications:
- College or University degree in Finance or Accounting.
- Must possess a financial designation (CA, CMA, CGA)
- Minimum 5 to 7 years experience in accounting environment
- Minimum 3-5 years supervisory experience within accounting environment.
- Leadership experience with the ability to mentor, coach and develop others.
- Strong analytical abilities to diagnose complex organizational issues and recommend actions to improve organizational effectiveness.
- Must have the ability to translate finance issues into English and add value to non-finance people throughout the organization.
- Must possess sound interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to project a positive image to both internal and external clients.
- Proactive in identifying trends or problems prior to their occurrence, recommending solutions, and then implementing recommendations.
- A ‘people person’ and a leader with project management skills who has the confidence and ability to clearly communicate goals and plans.
- Ability to understand business operations and demonstrate value through partnerships within the organization.
- An individual with obvious personal integrity who will inspire trust within the organization.
